Hook Up
Shy Lucy is keen to please her enigmatic best-friend Alice, but when a double Tinder date with two older men turns ugly, she must fight to protect Alice and in the process recognises deeper feelings she has for her.
Hook Up was funded by the Melbourne Queer Film Festival in 2019, as the winner of the inaugural Pitch, Pleez! pitching competition. The film was produced by Sarah Christie, Maren Smith and Paper Moose, and stars Jillian Nguyen (Hungry Ghosts), Kirsty Marillier (Harry Potter & The Cursed Child), Joshua McElroy (Frayed) and Travis Jeffery (Gallipoli).
Hook Up premiered on Opening Night of the Melbourne Queer Film Festival, where it won the Film Victoria Award for Best Director.
Hook Up had its Western Australian premiere at Cinefest Oz 2020. It will next be screened at the Brisbane International Film Festival in October 2020.
